IIT Madras Conference Next generation Sequencing Bioinformatics for Genomics & Healthcare conference

Next-Generation Sequencing and Bioinformatics for Genomics & Healthcare conference.

The next generation sequencing technologies over the past five years have enabled a large number of genomic studies that impact human health and disease. Also, this has made possible the growth of microbial, animal and plant genomics studies. While the data production has increased at a rapid pace challenges remain in analyzing and understanding the data. The conference will cover the next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, bioinformatics for NGS and applications of NGS in many areas including personalized medicine.

CONFERENCE PROGRAM

The meeting check-in will begin at 8:30am. The first keynote address will be at 10:30 am on Nov 1st and the conference will end at 5:30pm on Nov 3rd.
1st November 2012 (Thursday) - Day 1
KeynoteThe State of Sequencing Technologies
Session 1-3Sequencing Technologies
This day will include presentations by Sequencing technology companies and hardware & software vendors

2nd November 2012 (Friday) - Day 2
KeynoteNext Generation Sequencing Applications
Session 4-5Next Gen Applications in Genomics
Session 6Bioinformatics for NGS
Session 7Posters and exhibits

3rd November 2012 (Saturday) - Day 3 *
KeynoteNGS Applications in personalized medicine
Session 8-9-10NGS applications in Drug discovery, Human Health and Disease management
Session 11Physician's panel discussion on NGS applications in personalized medicine

NGS workshop will be held concurrently from 1:30-4:30 on Nov 1st, 2nd and 3rd. We expect to have opening for 30 participants per day at the workshop.

*Day 3 of the conference is being jointly organized with the Indian Cooperative Oncology Network. It will be a unique integration of medicine and technology for the benefit of Indian patients. We are in the process of applying for CME (continuing medical education) credit points from the medical council.
